This weekend we traveled up north to Shawano for another Deer Hunting Weekend. Mom and friend Judy headed up on Thursday to open up the house and turn up the heat, and Karen and I were planning on heading up Friday after work. However, surprise, surprise what the weather man predicted as some flurries, turned into quite the snow storm. I was worried that morning that Karen and I were not going to be able to travel up to Shawano, but the man upstairs was listening to our prayers and cleared the snow in time for Karen and I to leave.
We arrived in Shawano at 8:30pm and quickly unpacked the car in the chilly temperatures...the temperature had dropped to 4 degrees by this point!
Saturday morning dawned sunny but cold. Time to get sewing! I was able to finish sewing together dad's rag quilt on Saturday. If you remember this was supposed to be a Christmas present and it did not get done in time! So, he got a bag of fabric for Christmas with the promise I would finished the quilt soon! While here we are in February and I just go it sewn together. Now to snip it and wash it so it rags!
After sewing together the rag quilt, I wanted to have some fun. So I pulled out my red and white fabric and put together this little wall hanging.
I am going to use the twister tool on it, so it is not quite finished yet, but I think it looks so cute already!!
Sunday morning came and there was only a little time to sew. I had some flowers that needed to be appliqued and so I grabbed 2 of the 4 and did some applique. They turned out quite cute I think. Only two more to applique and then I can sew together my wall hanging!
Another successful Deer Hunting weekend has come to a close! Sad to see it end...too much quilting to do, not enough time to get it all done! Time to unpack and get things put away!!!
Until the next quilting adventure!!!
A blog to keep track of all my quilting adventures and all the other random adventures I have throughout life!

Christmas 2011
Christmas 2011 has come and gone, and while I had planned to get lots and lots of quilted projects done to give to my family, it just did not happen. Most of my family received stacks of fabric, partially completed, and an explanation as to what it would look like in the end...and then I asked for the fabric back! However, I was able to get two projects completely finished.
The first was a tree skirt for my sister Rachel and her husband Jay. Rachel had been asking for one, and both my mom and I told her that there was no way we could finish before Christmas and she would have to wait until next year. I surprised her and Jay however with a completed tree skirt they could still use this year!
Before I could take a picture of it quilted and bound, Rachel and Jay took it home to put under their tree. I told Rachel that should could have it of course, but wanted it back before they stored it for next Christmas so that I could take a few more pictures and put the label on! :)
The second gift that I finished was a set of four placemats for my other sister Sarah's boyfriend, Mickey. Mickey loves ducks, so I found a Kim Schaefer placemat patten with ducks on it and decided this was the perfect gift for Mickey. He was so surprised and excited Christmas morning!
So two gifts down and a bunch more to go! :) I still have to finish two rag quilts (one for my dad and one for Rachel and Jay), a Grinch quilt for my mom and a business sign for my sister Sarah's "Klips By Kate" business! No one is in a hurry to get these gifts (thank goodness), they where just happy to have home made gifts! So I will take my time in making them and as soon as I finish these I will be sure to post more pictures! :)
Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!!!
